Paint the Town Grey

By taking one, or more, of the empty shops in and around stockton's historic high street and using them to provide studio space for artists with mental health issues, we believe that we can breath new life back into our town.
To learn more or to get involved...

Paint the Town Grey is an organisation that wants to utilise some of the many empty buildings, shops and offices from our local town centre to provide studio space for artists with mental health issues.

We are trying to get this beast off the ground.

The ultimate dream is a huge building that provides studio space, jobs, studio space, group rooms, chill zones, books, meditation, studio space, amazing art facilities, meeting rooms, great coffee and a place to chill and observe great art and watch talented artists produce break-taking work. but as of April 2017 all we want is a pop-up shop in order to start a pilot study, we just want a small empty shop to use for 1 or 2 months initially in order to see if this idea has ‘legs’.

What we need;

People – can you spare 1 or 2 hours a week?

jobs to be covered;

  • social media

  • promotion

  • support staff

  • odd job people

  • coffee makers

  • administrators

  • people who can apply for grants

  • fund-raisers

  • drivers

All we need is a few people with drive, determination, a desire to help Stockton-on-Tees and empathy for people with mental health issues.

An artist, who has not done any ‘serious’ art for several years (because of her mental health issues), recently told me;

All I’d need is space, a table and some light, that would make me happy.
